Connecting your QuickBooks® Online company

What this is

A private connection, operated by Insight Analytics for its own clients. We use it to do the accounting and reporting work those clients have already engaged us to do.

It is not a public app. It is not listed on the QuickBooks App Store, it is not sold, and there is nothing here to sign up for.

Who it is for

Existing clients with a signed engagement letter, and only them. If you do not have an engagement with us, there is nothing on this page for you to do.

How connecting works

Three steps, and you control all three.

1. We send you a request, directly, to the person named in your engagement.
2. You sign in to QuickBooks Online and choose the company you want to connect on Intuit's consent screen.
3. You see the permission being requested, which is the standard accounting scope, and you approve it.

The connection then stays active until it is disconnected. Signing out of QuickBooks Online does not disconnect it.

What we access

Under the standard accounting scope we read:

• Company information.
• Chart of accounts and general ledger.
• Accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Bank and credit card transactions.
• Payroll summaries.
• Budgets.
• Financial reports.

As part of a bookkeeping engagement we also record entries in your file, under the approval workflow set out in your engagement letter. This is not a read-only connection.

What we never access

• Student-identifiable records.
• Patient-identifiable health information. Surgery center engagements are outside the scope of this connection.
• Your bank or QuickBooks Online login credentials. We never ask for them and we never hold them.

How we use it

To run your close and your reconciliations, to build your monthly board reporting, to prepare budgets and forecasts, and to keep audit-readiness workpapers current.

We use AI tools, including Anthropic's Claude, to help produce our analysis. Every deliverable is reviewed by a member of our team before it reaches you.

We do not sell your data, we do not use it for marketing, we do not share one client's data with another, and we do not allow it to be used to train AI models.

Security in brief

• Encryption in transit.
• Connection credentials encrypted where they are stored.
• Multi-factor authentication on the systems used for this work.
• Access limited to the staff on your engagement.
• Activity logged.
• One named person responsible, at the foot of this page.

Disconnecting

There are two ways, and either one is enough.

• Ask us. We revoke the connection the same business day and confirm when it is done.
• Do it yourself. In QuickBooks Online, go to Settings, then Apps, find Insight Analytics and choose Disconnect.

Signing out of QuickBooks Online does not disconnect the connection.

What happens after you disconnect

Our access token is revoked and we stop reading your company. What we already hold stays governed by your engagement letter and by the retention duties that apply to it. The page below sets out exactly what stops, what continues, and how to reconnect.
